Who are we?
NWCT is the intermediate body between Local Churches Together groups and Churches Together in England. Our role is:
- To initiate and encourage mission as described by the 1988 Lambeth Conference:
- proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom;
- teach, baptise and nurture new believers;
- respond to human need by loving service;
- seek to transform unjust structures of society;
- strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth
- Care for Local Churches Together or Council of Churches groups in the Norfolk and Waveney area in organizing an annual Forum inviting representatives together to explore a relevant subject or need for those groups, and the production of a regular news letter called One2One.
- Sponsor Local Ecumenical Partnerships where denominations are working together on a more formal basis such as sharing of buildings, sharing ministers, two or more congregations meeting together or local covenants for denominations to work together.
- Support and organise the Ecumenical Emergency Incident Team. A team of pastors ready to attend at major incidents in the area, when needed.
- Plan and run a Churches Together Stand at the Royal Norfolk Show each year. The stand comprises a place to stop and rest with light refreshment, a exhibition relevant to the time, a team of chaplains going to meet other stall holders as well as being present on the stand and a Quiet Room for visitors to pause and pray.
- Act as a bridge between the Local groups and the national Churches Together in England by meeting with other regional Ecumenical Officers and attending Forums and Consultations planned by CTE.
